Have you ever felt like part of you wants to work out and be strong and feel confident while the other part of you really just wants to take a nap and maybe drink a glass of wine? Hey there. I'm Cam. Welcome back to the Menopause Method. We're gonna talk about the parts of you today. I am home from Dallas after certification for neuro linguistic programming, and the certification was no joke. One hundred thirty nine hours of training and practicing these strategies. And honestly, this is my day two home. I would say first of all, I'm sleeping like a rock and I feel calmer and happier, which is a really good result. Less frustration and more happiness is always nice. You see, midlife is full of this tug of war. We're like stuck in what we used to do and how that used to work and then we're trying to do those things today and maybe you're not getting the results that you want. NLP really helped me stop this fighting myself and I can't wait to share this with you. Today we're gonna talk about parts. So whenever you hear yourself saying part of me wants this and part of me wants that, that is your brain having two conflicting ideas. And you're like, well, which one is it? You may want to just, like, gaslight yourself and, like, put yourself down for wanting rest or wanting to have some cozy food. Or maybe you talk to yourself and feel like, I'm just lazy. I'm not getting what I want. I'm not doing the things I wanna do. Your mouth says you want this thing, but your brain is, like, hijacking you and not letting you actually follow through. So if you've ever felt torn between pushing through and needing rest, this strategy is for you. One part of you may say, let's go, and the other part of you is like, not today. It's this constant internal battle around workouts, rest, food, effort. All of those self talk things are parts of you. So that's what this parts work is all about. It's actually bringing awareness through language and patterns to help you understand what's going on in your brain. NLP says that the majority of our filters occurred when we were zero to seven. We actually came up with definitions for our world when we were zero to seven. That's crazy. That's really crazy. And here we are, you know, peri, post, menopause, and we're letting those filters rule the show. And NLP helps you get in touch with your brain. And if you have unhelpful thoughts or you're not getting the results you want, NLP can actually change that very quickly by forming new patterns in your brain. It's it's absolutely amazing. So let me explain how parts integration works so you can understand the two parts when you say part of me wants this and part of me wants that. It's a process called dump the bucket. So whenever you catch yourself saying parts, I want you to grab your journal and sit down and write down all the things about this part and all the things about that part. Literally dump the bucket. Say everything that you need to say about both parts. And then what you'll realize is when you look through the list, both parts are trying to do what's best for you. Maybe the part that wants to work out and be strong and capable wants that for you, wants you to age well and have better health in midlife. The other half, maybe the half that doesn't wanna work out and wants to feel lazy is actually a call for comfort, a call that you're pushing through too hard and also wants the best for you. When you chunk them up to the highest need you'll see that both parts actually have your best interests at heart and they're just in conflict. So how can you bring those parts together? Both parts are trying to protect you in their own way. And when you see that then your eyes open and you're like, oh, thanks brain for helping me and protecting me. So before old cam, CrossFit cam of my forties, if I skipped a workout, I was lazy. Or if I didn't do the workout, I wasn't showing up, whatever it was. Now menopause me knows that rest is part of the plan. And in fact, if you've heard me talk about the four keys to midlife fitness, rest and recovery is one of the four keys. I had to add that in there because part of me thought rest and recovery is lazy. Only you only can rest when you're dead or never skip a Monday. All of that nonsense, I grew up in my forties hearing, wasn't serving me once menopause happened at age 49. So I didn't rewrite everything. I had to rewrite what exactly fitness meant and looked like for me. And really, that's why the menopause minis were born. I started using ten minute strength workouts back in December, and it changed the way I viewed strength training. I was still operating under the idea, the old idea that it had to be an hour long and it had to have be full of effort. And in reality, at this stage, my body needed something different. And the strength workouts are perfect. Ten minutes, if I have more energy, I can stack two or three of those together. But the thing that's happening is I'm being more consistent because workouts have to be an hour. I've gotten rid of that belief, and I know that I can get a good workout in ten minutes a day. If you're interested, be sure to check out the link in the show notes because it really has changed my identity, and I'm being more consistent than I have in a really long time. So the identity shift happens when you dump the bucket on your two parts, and you realize you can go from I only succeed when I push hard to I'm someone who honors what I need. Strong and soft both matter. Yeah. When the parts go from battling to working together then you get more peace and results and a calmer happier brain. And isn't that what we want? I kind of describe it as the midlife awakening. When you really truly come back to yourself your energy is turned inward instead of outward to all the people in your life. So here's my challenge for you. What are two parts of you that feel at conflict right now? They're feeling at odds. And the key is when you say to yourself or to your friend or to your spouse, part of me wants this and part of me wants that. That's a ding ding ding, get your journal out and dump the bucket and see what those parts are actually telling at you telling, you know, what are they saying for you? What might both of them be trying to give you? Because I'm telling you your brain has your highest interest in that at its heart. What might both parts were actually trying to give you something? Ask yourself, what are they trying to give you? And what if neither part was wrong? That is your homework this week. I want you to listen for yourself saying parts. Next week, we're gonna continue with the NLP, and we're gonna talk about how words and language patterns actually shape your habits, your beliefs, and your results. Because everyday self talk is a chance to notice and shift your beliefs and rewire your brain so you can actually get the results you want. If you found this episode helpful, please subscribe to this channel, and don't forget to like and share. That is the easiest way to get the word out because really no one needs to feel alone or confused in menopause, and that is the whole purpose of this channel. I love hearing from you on Instagram, so head over to @heymomma_cam and send me a message and let me know which part of this episode meant something to you. Were you able to reconcile your parts? Were you able to see that both parts actually have your highest good?
